What is hypnobirthing?

Lets start with what it’s not shall we?
Its not me hypnotising you, or dancing like a chicken.
It is a full birth preparation course that offers tools and techniques for keeping you calm and in control during birth. Labour is hard (as the name suggests) But after the course youll gain confidence. With knowledge comes power and you are going to be awesome at this- let me show you.

When should I start?

The optimum time I would say is 20-30 weeks. But please don’t worry if you’re out of those weeks. There is always time to benefit from hypnobirthing.
The earlier you start, to more practice you will gain. But if you’d prefer to keep the practice for further into you pregnancy that’s fine too. The practice is what makes all the difference so its personal choice – how do you learn better?

I have already done an Antenatal class!

That’s wonderful. You can still do this. This course covers how to prepare mentally, we go that bit deeper for you. This isn’t how to care for baby as in bathing etc. This is nourishing YOU. I will focus more on the the birth and labour aspects for you, than many antenatal classes.

Should I bring my birth partner?

They are so welcome, as they can play such an important role for your birth. This could be your partner, family member, friend. The course is for them too.

My partner is sceptical

I have heard this a lot to be honest! My partner was the same too at the beginning. Hopefully they will soon find out it’s not actually mumbojumbo and relax a bit, amd see how it can help them too. Practicing the techniques work. That’s the main thing.

Absoloutely fine, its not a criteria for the course.

How many couples on a group course with me?

My max amount of couples would be 6. This is so I can be sure we all gain from full support and beneficial discussions.

Is this for home births?

Accepted Answer

Hypnobirthing is for ANY birth. Wherever you choose to birth your baby is the right place. If that’s where you feel safe. Home ,hospital ,birth centre… you choose. Caesarian birth too! I even have a bespoke course also for this.

Does this make my labour painless?

Accepted Answer

While some people have experienced a pain free labour, I can’t guarantee you this. But once you learn about what can make the process more painful, you will understand how to break that cycle. You’ll learn more about how 95% of labour pain is tension based. (Grantly Dick Read) and where this information comes from.
